  1. Jammed first time (part 2) 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Apr 2015

I would like to follow up on the scathing review of this product I already posted.

I was in a situation where I needed to repair/reinforce a road case that didn't fare well in its last encounter with the airline luggage gorillas, in time to fly again in two days. Just a half-dozen additional rivets through some aluminum reinforcing will do the job. Given more time I would have contacted you, etc. etc., but getting another riveter from Lowes got the job done immediately, right now, today. (As I write this, the case is repaired and ready to go.)

That being said, I was impressed by your response. I was impressed that you would actually publish my scathing review. And I was impressed that you would refund my purchase without requiring me to return it.

I get that products go awry, and maybe I just got a bad one. But my hat is off to you that you responded in such a righteous manner.

I really appreciate your follow-up review, and clarification as to your scenario, so thanks very much.

It's nice that you appreciate our posting a negative review, because we have had a few disgruntled customers, as well as other folks in the past (probably our competitors posing as customers, haha) that send snarky emails telling us "Strange how you guys only post the good reviews and none of the bad ones." The funny part is that we actually have posted all of the negative reviews, but you really have to search them out, because we have received so few!

Anyway, I understand your scenario, and I thank you again for your taking the time to clarify things, and for your understanding in the matter.

  2. Jammed first time 1 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Apr 2015

Irretrievably jammed the first time using a rivet from DIY Road Cases. Rivet is absolutely stuck in the riveter. I cannot get it out. I tried unscrewing the mandrel to get the rivet out. No cigar. Tossed this piece of trash into the trash where it belongs as by the time I pay to ship it back and take the time to do all that, blah blah blah it's not worth it.

We are sorry that you experienced difficulties. As with anything mechanical, there always runs a risk of malfunction. We have sold a couple thousand of these since we started carrying it, and this is only the 4th one to malfunction, so we have had a good track record with it.

There are ways to clear such jams, so if you had just contacted us (before simply choosing to throw it in the trash and write a scathing review instead of contacting us and giving us a chance to help you, or make things right) we may have been able to offer a solution before you threw it away. That's not to say that it may not have been a defective gun, and if we couldn't have helped you clear the jam, we would have sent you a new one and not required you to send the other one back.

Since you have already tossed it, and voiced such displeasure with the gun, I don't feel that sending you another one at this point would be the answer, so I have refunded the cost of the gun in full, as well as the portion of the shipping cost associated with the gun itself.

    Best wishes,

  3. Does The Job 4 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Dec 2012

I only gave this 4 stars because my hand hurts LOL! But seriously, this tool works great, but I wish that I could have purchased the air gun, because it's a lot of work to instal a lot of rivets with this manual gun. It worked great though. If you can afford the air gun I would advise it. I have about 5 or 6 more cases to build in a couple months and I am saving up to get the air gun for those.
