Description

1/2" Thick Plank Foam Sheet - Used for lining cases. This is a polyethylene-based foam, which is fairly rigid in nature. The best way to describe it is that it is somewhat like the consistency of a Rice Krispies Treat (but not sticky!). Dark charcoal grey (almost black) in color, and very resilient. It may be used for any case lining situation, and is commonly used in the bottoms of cases for supporting excess weight. This is also a great foam for interiors that will take a certain amount of abuse by items with rough or sharp edges, or loose items, such as stands, light fixtures, tools, etc. This is also an excellent foam to use in shock-mount style rack cases, or any case design that has an enclosure "floating" within case walls.

This item may incur additional shipping charges not assessed at the time of the order based on your zip code. We will contact you if this situation arises.

    I received 2 different types. One had a smooth backing on one side that i liked because it didn't soak up the adhievsive spray as much.

    The thickness and density is perfect. I wish it came in 36" widths. I am building cases that are 27" wide and I would like a one piece solution instead of piecing it together. It just looks cleaner.

    ::::::::::::::::::::: DIY Road Cases® Response :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    Hi,

    Just to let you know, you didn't receive two different types of foam. What you received was one piece that was cut from the end of the bundle. Each bundle will yield two such pieces.The foam bundles start out at 10" thick. Then they are cut into the different sheet thicknesses from that. The initial foam bundle has a wrap of a thin smooth membrane during manufacturing. You might notice that membrane around the edged of the foam sheets as well.

    As far as the "cleaner" look scenario . . . these cases are meant to take a beating. Exteriors will eventually look worn and beaten up. That's their job. They are not meant to be cosmetically pretty per se (although they do look cool). There is even less concern regarding interiors. They are supposed to be functional and the "look" of the interior should be inconsequential.

    Best wishes,
