Description

U-Cap Edge Trim Extrusion. Used to cover (trim) bare edges of wood panels.

NOTE: Mill finish unanodized extrusions can commonly incur surface abrasions during shipment from rubbing together if they incur harsh handling during the shipment process. This is not abnormal, and is easy to remedy by rubbing the extrusions with some #0000 Fine Grade Steel Wool, cheaply available at any hardware store.

THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW EXTRUSIONS THAT SELLS IN 12 FT. STICKS, AND MUST BE CUT FOR GROUND SHIPPING.

Rivets Required For Installation: Varies depending on length of section used, as well as associated parts that may be riveted through it.

Depending on your case design some rivets may require backing washers. Most rivets will install through the interior leg of the extrusion and therefore require no backing washers.

RECOMMENDED USES:
All Cases utilizing 3/8" wall panels.

    Live-in Amp Case

Posted by Nick A on 13th Jan 2016

I used these for a case I built for my Marshall head and cab. They were installed on the ends of my 3/8" divider that separates the head from the cab. Looks very professional.

    Sturdy. Tight fit.

Posted by Unknown on 27th Aug 2014

Theses fit very snugly down onto the plywood, but gently tapping with a rubber mallet can fix this. I personally used these as trim around the top of the bottom and the bottom of the lid to make a nice seam.

    Doesn't Fit Laminated Wood

    Posted by N/A on 24th Feb 2013

This ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT FIT LAMINATED PIECES USED FOR ROADCASES! I made it work by making a metal shim to hammer into the slot and spread it wide enough but even that was a difficult, tight fit. It will work if you're just looking to cap standard 3/8" plywood but will be loose on the true 11/32" edge until it's fastened with a rivet or screw. ::::::::::::::::::::: DIY Road Cases® Response ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: We are sorry that you experienced difficulties, but we have never seen this problem before. Since I have called you 4 times and left messages for you, and emailed once as well, and have received no response from you, I can not effectively comment as to why you might have experienced this. I assure you that our 3/8" U-Cap fits 3/8" case walls, even with the ABS Plastic laminate. This could be a result of one of two possible issues. Either your wood was not a proper thickness to qualify as 3/8" case walls, or you possibly received one of our other U-Caps by accident, which I would have been happy to compensate you for. So, I am not sure which may have caused you to experience this problem. And since I can not get to speak with you, I guess we'll never know. Best wishes, Jonathan Beacon Director of Sales & Merchandising DIY Road Cases® 213-341-0026 Ext.707
